So i recently went through some things and realized i just dont like who i am, ive always lacked in self confidence and have never been comfortable with myself and decided that i was going to try and change that.

Ive been doing research coming accross information that contadicts eachother. Faulty programs and schemes and i just need help. I dont expect anyone to build an entire program from the ground up for me. Just help me find the info I need. And give me some real tangible building blocks.

I am about 5'8" 145 lbs. Average build but have some muscle underneath the thin layer of fat. My goal is to build muscle and then work the rest of that fat off. My problem lies her: no one ever taught me how to work out. I have no idea what sipplements i should be taking when or how much. I understand the macro nutrients are important but how do you calculate that to your own body and plan an entire days worth of meals around it?.

My biggest problem is that with my work schedule and my car lease (limited miles) i dont have a fair amount of access to a proper gym in my small town, as it closes fairly early. Ive been doing calisthenics, and bought a pull up bar. But i was hoping to get dumbells. So what i really need is someone who knows a really good workout program focusing on dumbells and a pull up bar. Minimal equipment but good gains.

If anyone could help me aet this stuff atraight so i can work on myself and become someone i feel good about i would be forever greatful.

Hey hey @Jackdaws! Welcome to the site!

Glad you made it here my friend, we can absolutely help you out!

First off, the thing you need to know about supplements is that they are JUST supplements - they are designed to SUPPLEMENT your already in place diet. You only use them when you need to fill gaps in your diet that aren't filled with whole foods.

For figuring out the macros you need, you can go to the @mealplan page here on the site and use the calculator. Input all of your info and it will give you a rough idea of what macros you should be eating and how many calories you need for your goal. Once you've done that, you can make a post in the forums with the numbers and we can help you adjust them if needed.

That sucks that you can't get to a gym often, but you can still do killer home workouts! Have you seen my 500 rep challenge? It's all bodyweight stuff so you won't even need dumbbells at this point. http://muscularstrength.com/forums.php?pageAction=POSTS&subForumID=49&threadID=3554

There are plenty of videos of mine on YouTube as well of pure dumbbell workouts if you want to check those out too.

Hope this helps for now, and if you have any more questions be sure to post again :-)

Hello !

First off I wanna say that we are looking at a great starting point ! You are not fat, not skinny, you have muscle and look pretty decent in my opinion !

If you go to the at home training section of the forums there is A LOT of great workouts. I have posted quite a decent amount of workouts that only requires dumbells and a pull up bar ! Go check out that section mate, it has a ton of workouts !!
