But as part of the BBC's coverage of the Superbowl last night, they produced a small video comparing the Superbowl of 1967 with the Superbowl of 2017 (with data relevant to the 2016 Superbowl) and the one figure that piqued my attention was how much the players have grown. According to the data sourced by the BBC, at the 1967 Superbowl the average player stood 6' 3" and weighed 251lbs (Body Mass Index: 31.4) and at the 2016 Superbowl the average player stood 6' 5" and weighed 310lbs (Body Mass Index: 36.8) suggesting an average increase of 17% over those fifty years.

Doesn't surprise me. But it is interesting to see how big the difference is! Imagine how big they will be in another 50 years?! :-O
