Recently I've discovered this fitness trainer/person on Facebook called Joseph Rackich Fitness and he says you need to consume 1g of protein per LEAN body weight. But Ive always thought you consume 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight in general? So I'd like to know which one is correct.

Hey Joel!
Well, this is not an exact science! Different people react to different amounts of protein differently.
What this means is that you need to figure out what works for you. Having said that I recommend that you start with 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.
So if you weigh 156lbs (71kg), start with at least 160 grams of protein. If you are relavtively lean (10-15% BF), it'll be pretty similar to your LEAN bodyweight so it doesn't really matter.
However, why not be safe and not take any risks? Getting in 150-200 grams of protein is fairly easy, so aim for that!
Let me know if you have any more questions!
