Hi there Hermanites

My girlfriend is rather cautious and anxious when it comes to her calves and thighs as they are the only muscle groups that are thick rather than toned. Like, her arms and waist are at low bodyfat percentages which makes her look like a  8/9% bf, however unfortunately her thighs and calves put her off.

With regards to that, due to that anxiety she just doesnt want to train her legs under no circumstance, so she avoids, squats, cycling, running, calve raises etc etc.. She is scared that they will only make matters worse.

Anyone kind enough to provide me with a concrete explanation that I can quote and explain to her. Also, any sort of remedy to the situation maybe targetting high reps or more streching of the tendon.

I know genetics plays a major part in it, as i suffer a similar condition with my chest fat.... unfortunately.

Thanks appreciated

David,

I understand her concern but she needs to remember the body functions as a whole unit. The core and legs are what support us daily. The "thickness" in her legs and claves are due to not only good genetics (she should be proud as many men train hard to grow legs and calves) and subcutaneous fat. If she wants her entire physique to look tone and fit, she has to train all body parts equally as well as follow a sensible and nutritious diet.

Not training her legs while training the rest of her body is like buying accessories for an outfit before you bought the outfit - you have to do them together.

Lol I wish my calves and thighs were thicker! Too be honest, if she trained them once or twice a week they would look amazingly more defined instead of just "thick". They won't get really big, unless she's juicing with steroids. Tell her to embrace her body for what it is, and not to compare to others. (Easier said than done, I know). I'm always trying to build quads, booty and calves! The struggle is real 😂
