I'm 22 and very slender, 6'2 between 165-170 pounds. I have exercise induced asthma that comes on when I do intense sets where I am pushing myself to do the final reps. My muscles can handle it and my breathing isn't very strained during the exercise but then a few minutes AFTER a hard set an asthma attack will sometimes come on or I'll start feeling the symptoms that I get right before them and I'll have to completely stop for up to a half hour. The symptoms are often accompanied by light headedness, nausea, and extreme fatigue. It is extremely frustrating and I feel like it's really holding me back in making gains.  If I keep pushing myself will this eventually lessen or is this just something I'm going to have to live with and slow down when symptoms occur?? This is something I've been struggling with for a while so any advice helps.

Ps just for the record I do take medication for it everyday and I use an inhaler before exercise and when needed.

Hey @Supafly412.

Maybe you need to start using your inhaler inbetween your sets. If you have asthma I'm not sure you can just work it off and get used to it, have you spoken to your doctor about working out and how to potentially keep the attacks to a minimum?

From what I know serious asthma attacks can actually be deadly.. in which case it's definitely something you want to avoid as best you can.

Thanks for the reply!! Yah I have spoke to my doctor and she basically just said to use it 15 minutes before working out and then "as needed". I think if I used it in between all sets I'd get really jittery by the end cause it's a stimulant.

Also recently I've been thinking that dehydration has been a contributor cause after workouts it's pretty common for my mouth to be all dry and be nauseous and super fatigued. It looks like I have a number of things to try...

Now I just have to get over my ankle sprain that happened today -_-.... doctor said 4-6 weeks.... uuuuggggghhhhhh

but I won't give up!

thanks for the input!
