I severely sprained my left ankle while playing racquetball (rolled it) 8 days ago. I immediately went to the hospital and had it x-rated and they told me it wasn't broken and to basically just use the RICE method (rest, ice, compression, elevation) to heal it. It was feeling better after about 3 days but I had to work Friday and Saturday and now it feels the worst it has since I initially had the injury. My foot is black and blue on both sides of my ankle and seems to be getting more painful every morning. I started doing the RICE method as much as I can but I was thinking maybe someone out there has some extra advice.

Kicker is that I will be in Disney in two weeks so I'm really hoping I'll be able to walk on it semi-regularly by then.

this is what it looked like the day of.

this is what it looked like about 4-5 days after. Looks about the same now but with a bit more bruising.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Ouch! Looks painful :/

I'd say you did the right thing by using the RICE method. But walking on it for two days at work probably wasn't the best move judging by the look of your ankle.

Not much more you can do, apart from maybe try some heat instead of ice? Two weeks might be enough time for it to heal too.

Aside from that, if it's still getting worse by the end of the weekend, might pay to go back to the doctor early next week.
