My fitness journey started in January 2017 at the age of 47 when I decided a change was in order. My mother had died from a clot in her aorta on August 11, 2016, partly due to being a heavy smoker for 55+ years. I guess part of my grieving process was to analyze my own life and what I could do differently to not share her fate. I do not smoke (quit when I was 22 a couple of months before I was to leave for basic training in the US Air Force) but I ate pretty much what I wanted and was about 30% body fat because of my food choices. I also wasn't active so after a lot of thinking I decided to start lifting and getting on the stationary bike for my cardio. Oh, and I recently started drinking plain water. I *hated* plain water. I still don't think it's the greatest but I am getting used to it.Why would I choose that if I had access to things like soda (don't drink that anymore), Gatorade, etc? I currently drink 3 - 3.5 liters of plain water a day. My goal is to lose fat and gain muscle. And not just a little bit but I want to see just how far I can go while still doing so naturally.
