So I started getting back into shape in January. Through May I ate 1800 calories a day, didn't track macros, and dropped from 235lb to 200lb. I took June off and ate 2700 calories a day and maintained. Then from July to now I've been eating 2300 calories a day with 35% protein, 30% fat, and 35% carbs. I meet my macros 4-5 days a week. I've since dropped from 200 to 190. also from January through June I was doing 3 week of full body with a couple days of cardio and then July through the first half of September I did 5 a week splits with a couple days of cardio and then I just switched back to full body 3 days a week in a couple days of cardio. Should I continue cutting?

@Nikolaiwk It looks like you're still holding a bit of fat around your torso, so a little more cutting might be needed if you want to trim down a little more. What's your main goal? How long have you been training in total?

With your current macros and calories, that would have you at about 200g of carbs, right? And are you still losing weight at 2300 calories if you were maintaining at 2700?

By the way, congrats on the almost 50lbs of weight lost so far!!

I want to cut down to a good place to start a lean bulk. I don't want to be completely ripped but I would like to see a little ab definition. I've been training for 9 months after not training for three years once I left the Army.

It does work out to about 200g carbs, 200g protein and 80g of fat. Should I drop carbs and increase fat?

I have been slowly losing fat at 2300 calories a day. There have been some off weeks because of football season, I work at a University so it is a busy time.

I'm just wondering if maybe I am at that skinny fat stage and maybe should try and put some muscle on for 6-9 months and then try and cut again.

Thank you for the reply, your videos and advice have helped me so much with meal planning, workouts, and proper form.

@Nikolaiwk You kind of are in the skinny fat stage a little bit, but if you've had training experience in the past, those newbie gains might be gone mostly. It really depends what your ultimate goal is. If you decide to go into a bulk now, there's a chance you might not have the abs very visible during the entire bulk. But at the same time, if you feel like you're a bit skinny at the moment, then there's no point losing more weight.

You could maybe try eating at maintenance and do a bit of a recomp to see if that's possible for you, where I would suggest keeping the carbs low and protein high, to see if there is still that opportunity to gain muscle and drop some more fat off.

Thanks again for the reply. I'm going to rework my macros to drop the carbs a bit, up my fat intake, and keep my protein around 200g.

I think I might try eating closer to a maintenance too. See if maybe I can put on a little more muscle.

It is so cool that you monitor your forums and reply to so many people.
