I mostly listen to punk and hardcore when I work out, or sometimes just podcasts if I'm going for long runs and such, but my secret weapon for getting REALLY pumped and giving it that little extra is the cheesy film music that was mostly prominent in the 80's, with the synth stings, the meaningless noodling guitar solos, but most of all the powerful lyrics with Joe Esposito assuring me I'm the best around, Kenny Loggins directing me into the danger zone and Pat Benatar telling me I can be invincible. Every workout session can just turn into an epic training montage with such a playlist, and the three "Blood Bros" mixes by some DJs on the Mad Decent label is just about the perfect soundtrack for a powerful workout.
Use at own risk.
