Based on what i seen , i think anyone who is JUST starting to go the gym should NOT be using a pre workout. The reason being is because you should spend a few months or maybe a year trying to get yourself used to working out WITHOUT them. You should be able to go to the gym and naturally get yourself intense, amped, and super focused. They should only be used by inermediate, advanced, or pros. Eventually, you are going to have to cycle off of them to rest up your nerves and hormones. ( I took them straight for 7 months, dumbest thing i ever did, but im been off them for 2 months lol)

I have seen a lot of guys and girls have really bad workouts because they became too dependent on pre workouts and  they never took the time to get used to working out WITHOUT them. I even seen some people skip days because they didnt have their pre workouts.  I know none of this stuff might be scentifically proven, but its something i feel like i can share with you. I no longer use pre workouts and I am still able to have THE BEST workouts ever.

In conclusion, Im not saying not to use them. They deffinitly make an impact and will give the energy you need to have good workouts, but just hold off and naturally get yourself focued, amped, and ready to tear it up.

Some pre workouts that I have tried and liked are and not in any order

Agreed.  You need to train your body.  Your really want your body to be only dependent on food and sleep.

I totally agree with you. I personally use NO Xplode 2.0 on a regular basis however when I am cycling off that I have used Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer (made of 13 plant based ingrediants) in the past. Its definitely worth looking into for people that want that little extra boost of energy and focus without taking something "extreme".

I tell everyone that starts trainging with me to wait at least 6 months before starting a pre workout.

Thats what I did when i first started training, I told myself that if I can handle going to the gym 6 days a week for 6 months straight, then i can reward myself with suppliments. It really helped me overall in my training, it taught me that I can do it all on my own and don't need to rely on a crutch.

Every few months I'll completely stop my pre-workout shakes and go to the gym with just water to prove to myself that I still don't need it. It's a great feeling knowing your going through your entire routine with just your own strength.

My normal pre-workout is Hemovex and BCAA Sport.

2 year #SHF athlete I love to train hard and help others when they want it.

Not a fan of preworkout, maybe it's because I drink coffee everyday but I've tried C4, hyde, jack3d etc and didn't like any of them

The biggest thing with most pre-workouts that they're filled with caffeine. While thats not the only think obviously, that's the big wone that gives you that energy in the gym, aswell as helping your mind to concentrate. My point being that you don't necessarily need a "pre-workout" to get most of the same benefits of a pre-workout.

That being said I agree that you shouldn't think of it as a requirment to workout, but more as a booster. You don't need a pre-workout to go to the gym and get an amazing pump.

I just recently got a pre-workout. C4 be cellucor. I personally don't get anything form caffeine, even as a kid soda rich with caffeine never gave me any additional energy. The main thing is all the Vitamine C in it that I enjoy, aswell as the bit of creatine nitrate in it. While I don't feel any different going to the gym before I was taking it to now (while I'm sure there are a few benefactors helping that I can't feel outwardly), I'll probably continue getting my workout stuff for the Vitamin C and it's benefits, but mostly because it helps me by having a ritual that I go through every time before I go workout.

Personal experience.

I learned the same lesson taking pre-workouts for too long. I found myself increasing the dose until I was taking two or three scoops of a pre-workout and still not feeling anything from it. I did the research and learned that the CNS gets overstimulated for too long and eventually you start feeling tired all the time, become injury prone, gains might slow or stop (this is what happened to me).

I stopped taking them (and any other caffein) for a while and could feel my energy come back. I felt strong again.

I still like to take a pre-workout for fun, but I cycle off of them now and never go more than one serving.

Everything in moderation!!!

While this may be true, It could be that your mind thinks that your only source of energy is the pre-workout and you rely a little to much on it to give you energy. Definatley cycle it on and off, but food is also a great source of energy too.
