hey

I was underweight with very low fat percentage and even though there was no abs pack

I heard that abs muscle can grow very very little. so I wonder how can I got abs pack, if even when I was underweight there was no abs pack....😒

I am doing fbw that includes squat , overhead press & t bar row , which I learnt that works on abs too. but I dont have any abs exercies.

that is a pic of what I have done in one year (fbw , 2-3 days a week) . no abs pack. but I have not done the compound movements I mentioned because I didnt know these exercises until I started to watch Scott's videos.

@alonadoni awesome work man! I wouldn't think about what could have been, because you can't change the past year now, so be proud of what you have achieved!

If you're struggling to get your full body training on point you can always try my Full Body program once I release it soon! Congrats on graduating too!

hey @Scott_Herman , you didnt notice... thanks you, but I posted in this thread a diffrenet message from my board 😀

I asked here how to get abs pack, if even though I was underweight there was no abs pack.. so I thin k it's not about fat percetnage. and I heard that abs muscle can grow very very little

@alonadoni Oh sorry man haha. Well, it really does come down to your overall body fat percentage, so there might be a little more that has to come from your torso, but you should definitely be training your abs directly too if you want them to look their best.

Abs are just like any other muscle - they respond to training and they respond to progressive overload. Whether that's more sets, more reps and / or more weight, it will all help them to grow bigger and blockier and appear more prominently.

How often do you training your abs at the moment, if at all?

hey @scott_herman ,

I dont exercise abs but I do compunds exercies.

I do this fbw:

Squat 4 sets

Bench press 3 sets

Flys machine 3 sets (only 2 days a week)

T-Bar row 4 sets

Military press (standing) 3 sets

Shoulder press machine 3 sets (only 2 days a week)

Triceps pushdowns 4 sets

Dumbbell curl 4 sets

ALL 8 - 10 REPS

I searched some videos of you about abs exercise with weight. I found only the crunch machine, which gave me back pains when I used to work with it. I also find the deep crunches video, you said something about weight but you didnt show how to do this with weight.

thanks you for your help!!😀

@alonadoni Well, if you're not seeing ab growth at the moment, then it's time to start training them directly my bro! Like any other muscle, that's how they grow 💪

Your back might be hurting with ab pulldowns because your core isn't very strong yet, so your lower back is taking the brunt of the exercise. Maybe start with basic bodyweight movements first, and then work into doing weight exercises once your core is a bit stronger.

Here's a good selection to choose from for now 😁

hey @scott_herman , you have a lot of videos for abs exercies and I'm getting confused..😅

my flexibility is bad so I'm having hard time to learn new exercies so I'm looking for only one or two good exercises.

Is there a big exercise for abs ?? for example, for chest there is the bench press, for leg there is squats, for sholuders there is the overhead press..

@alonadoni If you were only going to do 2 ab exercises (and wanted hem to be weighted exercises) I would say do ab pulldowns for your overall abs and then a more oblique focused exercise like wood choppers.

But it's not a bad thing to switch up your ab exercises, just like you would for any other muscle group!

thanks @scott_herman, I will learn ab pulldowns although this machine almost never available in the gym😟 .

what about home abs workout?

how about russian twist and Weighted Crunch ? I think it's easy exercises to learn

btw I learnt deadlift, in one of your videos you said that squat & deadlift works on one of the 6 functions of abs

@alonadoni Weighted crunches and Russian twists are two great exercises you can do at home! Try the video below for something with a bit more variety and a bit more intense too!

That's great you learned the deadlift! Just keep in mind that the point of that videos was that deadlifts are ONLY one of the 6 functions of your abs. So you still need those other exercises to build your abs as much as possible!

yes I know that was the point. thanks😀

by the way you dont have a video of weighted crunch, I learnt this from another youtuber

@alonadoni Oh maybe I need to make one then!

It's just the same as a regular crunch, except you're holding a weight either above your head or behind your head 😊

yes this is the beauty in this exercise (crunch) it's very easy movement so there is no need to learn to do this.. unlike russian twist (2 diffrent movements at the same time) or ab pulldowns (dont know what to do with the back) but I'll learn them too.

is there a reverse crunch weighted version ? I found in youtube many version and i'm not sure which is the right one.

btw what do you think about ab roll? my friend do this exercise alone for abs and he have 4 pack. he doesnt do squat or deadlift or any other exercise that invlove abs

@alonadoni I have a dumbest mistakes video for ab pulldowns, so if you want to learn proper form I'll link to that in this post!

You can do a weighted reverse crunch if you have ankle weights or you're able to balance a plate on your shins / feet as you do the movement. It will be harder, but a good challenge if you want to try it!

Ab rollouts are awesome too! You've got lots of good options for abs already 🏋 ðŸ’ª

I have already watched this video twice and I didnt understand what to do with the back, but I will watch again until I will😁

thanks!

@alonadoni Arch you back on the eccentric / negative (coming up). The arch means you're fully stretching your abs! 💪
