Hey guys,

I've always heard eating a bunch at night isn't the way to go. Often time when i get home at the end of the day it's pretty late 8:30-9:30 and i will still have 800-1000 calories to eat. I'm eating pretty clean but am just wondering if eating that close to going to bed makes a big difference? My overall calorie intake is 2880.

One other thing too.. So i was reading on the forms and Scott mentioned that it's not a good idea to train to failure often when your in a deficite because it's really taxing on the CNS. I'm currently on around a 500 cal deficite and have been doing the 5 day body building split program. That program is super intense as far as failure goes due to all those burn sets.. would it not be a good idea for me to continue? I'm currently enjoying the program and feel that the extra volume and failure training are doing me good.

Thanks!

It's not as big a deal as people make it seem. If you can avoid eating lots of carbs late at night, I personally would, because you're not going to be needing to use them while you're sleeping. If I get hungry at night, I like to snack on foods higher in protein or fat, or just leafy greens.

But if you NEED the calories at night, you're better off getting them in and like I said initially, it's not really a big deal. At the end of the day, hitting all of your macros and calories required is what's most important for reaching your goals. Plus if you are training in the evening, then the carbs at night would be for recovery anyway. Just do what you gotta do my friend!

You can still do the program. I'm talking about where people continually drop down weights and do each and every set to absolute failure. That's not what you're doing with this program - you should still be falling 1-2 reps shy of failure on each set.. but it will still BURN!!
