My first year was losing 45 pounds and gained about 12-15lbs of muscle.  In that year I did2 cuts and now Im on the second bulk and wanted to go for a while and bulk.  But I never got down past 16% body fat at my lowest.  Ive been on my second bulk around 200-500 calories in surplus for 16 weeks and my waist has gone up an 1-1/4".  Looking at my average weigh ins Im at 0.4lbs weekly increase so it looks about right.  I thought right after the holidays to do a mini cut just to get rid of some excessive fat but was wondering since Im still in 16-17% body fat and 1 year training (progressive overlaod always) can I still do another cut this spring and still build muscle while burning fat???????  Or is bodycomp and newbie no longer advaible for a 1 year vet weight lifter.

Training started in upper lower 4 days a week with hitt cardios, basketball on saturdays

Second half of training has been 3 days a week full body work out and basketball on saturdays

@Zeke_BE Most of your newbie gains will be gone, but because you didn't spend the entire year in a surplus, there might still be room for more, but they will probably mostly come if you're in a surplus rather than a deficit.

You've made great progress so far! Given your body fat percentage, it would be OK to maybe cut down a bit more (you'll generally have an easier time building muscle at a lower body fat percentage). But if you're skinny fat, I'd suggest hitting a surplus. Would you put yourself in the skinny fat category?

Yes I would put myself into a skinny fat category. 5-11" waist at 37.75, chest 39", shoulders center of Delts 22"

Waist- 37.75"

Chest 39"

Shoulders center of Delts- 22"

biceps 14.5"

calf 14.75

Neck 16"

Wrist 7"

With 16% body fat I think that would put me there. But looking in the mirror I would say yes

@Zeke_BE If you're at 16% body fat and feel that you're more skinny fat, then bulking is definitely the way to go. If you want to get bigger, that's what you have to do 😊
