Hey Nation
I am changing up my quads and glute workout. I split my legs up in two different days (quads, glutes and calves/ chest, hamstrings). My goal is to increase my deadlift and squat and building size at the same time. I was just wondering doing squats and sumo deadlift build any inbalances or should i add another exercises. I first do squats 4 sets pyramid training followed by sumo deadlifts 5x5. Thanks

Jason,
This is a good way to put more focus on all the muscles in the legs by splitting them up. Sumo style DLs activate more leg muscle fibers than standard DLs so these coupled with squats should build balanced legs.

One general framework for increasing strength in the compounds is to do just that, separate them out to their own focused days. I'm using a Monday - Squat and Friday - Deadlift focused day (essentially, Quads and Glutes vs. Hamstrings / Glutes / Back).
Depending on your variation of deadlift, you will emphasize some muscle groups more than the others (they are still all actively involved, however.). In your specific case, pulling Sumo is a great deal more hip (glute) dominated, you are still definately involving hamstrings, but it would be a decent idea to supplement in 2-3 sets of stiff-legged deadlifts for direct hamstring work - purely for musclular balance / physique reasons.
Again, no cause for alarm otherwise. Nothing terrible will happen if you don't.
