Hey,

In about 4 weeks I'm on a 3 week trip around North America, I'm currently strength training and was wondering if there's anything I should be doing while I'm away to minimise any strength losses, I've heard that taking some time off can actually help but 3 weeks feels too long.

Thank You

Olly

I'd say the most important things to watch will be....

1. Diet.... (Up your protien to protect those gainz while your away, sip on ammios if you like)

2. Stay active... Set up a bodyweight program or somthing (keep those muscle moving)

3. Rest of course

I was in this situation before and when I returned to training I was much stronger. So yea. not a bad thing..

What Mike has said is all very true, I had to take around three weeks off during my last month at college because of my insane workload. One thing I noticed was my strength stayed where it was at before, and I was able to hit all time PRs very quickly after returning to the gym. One bad thing I noticed was my lack of recovery time and overall endurance in the gym. My suggestion to you would be to do body weight exercises with as much intensity as you can, wether that be explosiveness or excessive repitions.

Hope you maintain your gains over this break, but remember life is about enjoying yourself so do not get too caught up with your exercise habits while you're on vacation, and enjoy yourself.
