So, my bulk went terribly wrong. I ate probably way too much, not thinking about macros and got a pretty fat belly. The rest is still pretty skinny, not much muscle gains. I want to do it right this time. Do i need to lose the fat first? I am 37 years old and weigh in at 79 kgs, 184 cm long. Body fat about 18%. Worked out for about 1,5 year. Getting stronger in the gym, but doesent really show. Is there some age issues as well?

@BongoFraKongo Would you say your training was pretty good over the past 1.5 years? If it WAS pretty good, then I'd say cut first because the newbie gains are probably all gone. If your training was pretty average and not well structured with no progressive overload, you might be able to fix your diet, fix your training, and still see some newbie gains.

If you're skinny fat and less than 20% bf, there's probably no real point in cutting, because you will just get skinnier.

Have you been to the @mealplan page to use the calculator to see what macros you should be aiming for?
