Hello guys! This is my first time to post on here. But I feel like someone might be able to help. I'm having trouble getting to my goal of having a 6 pack. I've been training just over a year, about 4 to 6 times a week. I'm 6 ft 2 and currently 83kg. At my biggest weight I was only about 90kg so I don't think this is anything skin related. But I find it rather easy to cut back my calories if need be. I managed to get to 78kg at my lightest and still only had the top 2 of the abs. And slightly the next 2. When slimming I would normally eat 1800 calories a day with a ratio of about 30 percent protein, 30 per cent fat and 40 percent carbs. And now that I'm trying a clean bulk I'm eating roughly 3000 calories a day and a with similar macros. But I'm feeling like the 5kg I've gained is mostly fat and no muscle. And when I lean  down to about 78kg I look too skinny for my height which I get told. So if anyone can spot something wrong in my diet and could help me. Please do.

@Derek3103 Remember that the number of abs you have visible also comes down to genetics. Not everyone has a visible 6 pack, even when super lean. When I cut down for example, I have a 4 pack. I never really have a straight 6 pack showing because that's just not part of my genetic make-up.

Your macros don't look bad at all really. If you cut down and couldn't see your abs, maybe the main problem is they're not build enough to REALLY stand out. How often do you train your abs, and do you do weighted movements?

Hello Scott. Thanks for the reply. It's weird even when I'm super lean I just have a small amount of fat on my lower stomach. And I train abs roughly twice a week. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Really depends on the week. And Yes I do weighted Russian twists I think they are. Weighted sit ups. And I try my best to do a few weighted leg raise, but I find that's a tough one for me I'm trying to improve. But I think it might be that I train abs when I'm most cutting. Could it be that they aren't growing because I'm in a deficit and I should train them more when I'm in a surplus? Or could it just be genetics that I will have a certain amount of fat on my stomach unless I really cut back?

@Derek3103 I wouldn't worry about it too much - Goku and Superman (and me) have 4-packs.. so you're in good company 😉

I suggest training your abs a lot no matter what - cutting AND bulking. But yes it's during your bulking phase that they will grow so they look their best and blockiest when you've cut down!
