Hermanites,
Awhile back I posted a thread about running my first full marathon. Scott and another gentleman replied another nd helped me out a lot and started me on my journey. I've been training for about 2 months months and it's been tough. I've never trained for anything like this but thanks to gt_turbo I've made huge strides towards my goal. Gt_turbo is a very very knowledgeable about training for running distances. He taught me so much, that I don't know where to start. He gave gave me an awesome training regiment that I follow very closely along with a good diet. I run 3 short runs a week and one medium to long run on the weekend. I have come a long way from where I started. I started off running at 210 lbs and I down to 198 - 200 lbs.my longest run so far is 14.5 miles ran at about a 9 minute 30 second mile.
Now here's the bad news. Back in 2009 I had hernia repair surgery and they fixed me up. About a month and half ago I had some really sharp pain where my first hernia was at. I could barely get up and sit down. The pain only lasted for a day or two. So I went to the the doctor's office and told what's going on. They scheduled me for an ultrasound. A few days later after the ultrasound my doctor called me said I have another hernia. I still kept training with the hernia because it only hurt for those two days. So last week on friday March 28 I had hernia repair surgery again. The surgery went well. It took about 4 days to start walking some what normal again because the pain was very bad. I'm now not taking any pain meds and wanting to start training again but the doctor said no running, lifting, cross fit, whatever for a month and half so everything can heal up good. Heck he I'm not supposed to lift anything over 10 lbs for that month and a half too. Thanks for reading and have a good day..
