@Mbowen it's hard to explain I guess, but it's just something you can become accustomed to after doing it for a while. Obviously you're not going to be flexing and contracting 24/7, but what I meant in that video was to mentally think about your posture and keeping a tight core when you know you're starting to slouch.
And when you take deep breaths, you might kind of relax when doing it, then tighten up again as you breathe out.
