Scott,
You've helped me a few times before with answered questions so I just want to thank you first off for all the help in the past.
It's now officially the start of training season for next years Triathlon season. I am excited for it, but there's only one problem... Or maybe 2:
I am addicted to going to the gym, and I am starting up my combatives training again.
I love the grind. I think it helps me keep myself centered throughout the day, and lets me be all around more functional and strong. I want to train triathlon and martial arts 5/6 days a week, ON TOP of lifting 5 days a week. I have a plan that involves 4 Sessions with different focuses every day (save sunday and saturday every other week), including Yoga/Martial Arts, Cardio, and 2 Lifting (which is mainly programmed with compound movements) sessions.
Here are my questions essentially:
1) What decides the maximum volume a body can output without injury or overtraining?
2) What is it about long distance cardio that makes hypertrophy/ strength gain difficult?
Thank you again for all the help. I am trying to make sure that I understand the nitty gritty of how training affects the body and mind, and for me these questions have been hard to answer beyond me simply guessing.
