Training at home has its benefits. You dont have to wait on machines or popular pieces of equipment, and you dont have to drive any where. On the flip side training at home can be boring for some. The gym is a really fun positive place to be, but if you choose to train in the comfort of your home all you need is a pull up bar, a set of adjustable dumbbells, some resistance bands, and an EZ bar. There are so many different exercises you can do with those 4 very valuable pieces of equipment that it'd literally take all day to think of them. So if you choose to train at home I'd suggest investing in this type of equipment because they take up very little space, but can work wonders for the body.

Doesn't EVERY person buy AT LEAST a bench for their house with a set of dumbbells? I know these are tough times, and wouldn't expect people to buy a bench right away, but even a basic one is about $120 or something like that. Save as much as you can and buy it in a few months ($20 a month and you'll have it in 6 months). But dumbbells are like $25 and they come with about 50 pounds of weight. That was one of the FIRST things I bought when I had to move, and I was glad I did. I train strictly at home now since it saves me $45 a month, including about $30 a week in gas costs. I don't have machines like lat pulldowns and preacher curl station (God only knows I wish I had that!), but I'm still doing fantastic and making gains using alternative exercises. If there was a gym only a few miles away I would get a membership, but I live way out in the sticks where we have to chop wood (good exercise to work obliques and shoulders and arms :-P)!

A bench or an IRON GYM.  Nothing beats being able to do push-ups at home!

But you don't need anything, I have tons of bodyweight workouts you can do at home on the site.  Just check out the TOTAL BODY section when you click on ROUTINES :)

You guys need to come train in my place if you are ever in Boston! :) #HTH

Don't get me wrong, I do pushups as a finisher for my chest, and if I had a sturdy bar than held 205 pounds, I'd do pullups/muscleups on my arms day, but it just doesn't beat having the feeling of the strong iron in the palm of your hands! And if I could make the trip to Boston, I totally would go Scott! I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to fully stocked gyms with machines!
