Hello fellow Hermanites!

What a cool site huh?! Facebook but with nicer people and fitness! :-)

Ok, so, I have put it off too long and am starting to gain a bit too much weight. I really want to lose some excess weight first before I go to the gym though. I know me, and I have tried before. The intimidation starts from the muscled guys who think you shouldnt be taking up gym space and disturbing them and before you know it, I have ran away. Excuses maybe but I dont have the confidence yet to try gym.

Any ideas of what to do at home? I have some dumbbells and weights to adjust but thats it. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!! Thank you so much.

Welcome to the community! Yeah I totally agree that this site is better than facebook! :) More knowledge to gain than drama!! LOL

I understand the fear that you have right now cuz I was once a fatty ass that wasn't able to perform a single push up! :) The gym is built for people who have goals and want to be better so most people will understand why you are there in the first place!! But yeah you need some knowledge to start off with for safety purposes and efficiency and that is why SHF is here! You have made a perfect decision of joining the community brotha! Scott Herman has a lot of videos on Youtube that can help you learn about the basics of lifting or anything about fitness. Go ahead and check it out! #scotthermanfitness

Do you mind letting us know what is your goal? Let me guess, weight loss? Well, if that's the case I recommend you try the Total Body Weight Loss Workout Level 1 of Scott Herman with the BeFit Team: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvlEj3VyqAg

Here is the beginners guide by the way: https://scotthermanfitness.com/beginners_guide.php

Another suggestion to add to Mervin is to use a TRX suspension trainer. Scott has a great TRX beginners video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmhI_8wlm8I which is in fact how I first heard about Scott. I do a lot of home training and integrate a bit of TRX with my free weights. The TRX is also perfect for travelling as it packs up into a small bag and means you can get a serious workout almost anywhere..
