Hi guys , ive been out for about just over 2 months now after waking up morning with a sharp pain in my right shoulder.

i tried working out with it but it affects so much of my movement, i tried powering through it , realising i was just going to make it worse

i rather stopped, so its been over 2 months of doing nothing and getting fat , haha , gained 4 kilos , but i think its actually more than that seeing that ive obviously lost muscle density.

so im starting to diet out again tomorow , the good ol 1800cal a day . with some squash at nite for cardio to get back to ripped status.

do not like the chubbyness.

So the advice i need is , shoulder . no idead what caused it or what it is and it seem like i know more about the muscular setup than my doctor. hes just like, o here drink these pill for inflamation , it did nothing , then i went to the pharmacy got some volarin injections and some other injection streight into the muscles around the shoulder.

the pain seem to be right inside my shoulder, like where the bone pivots, or thats what it feels like and im all out of ideas and dont know what to do anymore. Doing nothing is driving me insane.

Not to be nasty or a d**k , but pls dont give me advice on this if you dont actually know what you are talking about , cause i might just follow it and mess it up completely . ive seen that happen.

im just hoping someone has had ther same thing and found the solution. Or actually knows whats happening here.

post any questions if needed , ill check in daily .

Thx

Anthony

Hey Anthony! Sorry u've developed an injury. I too am currently dealing with an injury at my ac joint. Where the collar bone meets the shoulder. Where specifically is ur pain? Is it at that joint or deeper further into the shoulder such as the rotator cuff area? Depending on where the problem is will determine what the solution will be. For my ac joint at this point I've just been doing some exercises to warm up and work the shoulder before every workout. I have a lot of pain when I wake in the morning because I sleep on my side which puts a lot of pressure on my joint. I've taken 550mg anti inflammatory pills and am about to start on a steroid pack prescribed by my dr. If this doesn't alleviate the pain then I'll prob try to get a cortisone injection to relieve the contracted portion so it can heal. without knowing exactly where ur problem is it's hard to give u advice other than do a search of your symptoms to find what is the actual cause for ur pain. Hope this helps man.

Kick ass!!!

I'm actually qualified in this area and I wouldn't feel comfortable giving you advice over the internet. I would go see a physiotherapist and let them give you a diagnosis then I could help with rehabilitation. Shoulders are very complicated and I would only give advice on situations I am sure of and this I am unfortunately not. Hope you get this resolved soon.

I agree with Daniel. I have shoulder issues and have an unresolved AC joint problem with the right shoulder. After standard physical thereapy, anti-inflamatories, corticosteroid injection, it is still unresolved. Scheduled for Arthrogram and MRI tomorrow. For the past 7-weeks I have been swimming laps and it has helped alleviate some of the pain.

My left shoulder has an impingement according to a PT friend of mine and she thinks it is due to a week rotator cuff. She gave me rotator cuff exercises and said swimming was one of the best things I could be doing.

Well, enough of me. Just letting you know the route I took/taking to help you out with any decisions.

Good luck!

it feels like its inside the shoulder . in the rotater cuff area . which is weird, but i think i understand the problem , i did some reading , would post it here but i cant find it again ,, it seems there are some torn tendants .

im doing absolutely nothing about it , right now im just giving it time to heal . had a issue in my fore arm for a year . it resolved itself,

as much as i hate not lifting . i just think about my comeback when its fixed itself.

also staying fit through squash etc.

thank you guys for the responses . really apreciate it

Hi Anthony,

how long and how often do you play squash? You play with right hand? How serious/intense/which ball you play it? Do you do any warmup before and stretching after play?

I can't give you direct advice or anything, but I'll ask friend who have two halls and played it pretty seriously, semi-professional, about that. That will be in 4-5 days.

i play about 4 times a week , its my cardio , i play right handed , 2 dot ball . 1 hour at a time , if energy allowes it 1.5 hrs .

we play intensely . get that puky feeling alot , lol. its one of the most intence sports ive ever done , when i play squash , i have no issues wuth my shoulder , but i am a toolmaker , i o w . manual labour , basicly , my ass works hard , i carry move and work with heavy ass stuff , so getting injured is easy , this is where my shoulder screws me , ive actually gotten good with using my left hand more .

but im screwd when it comes to lifting , my gains are all but gone at this point :(

we just play for the fuck of it to be honest, we dont patucularly watm up but do run cross court laps till we collaps before starting ,

just to make it harder.

jfis . i broke a $300 racket on my friends face on thursday . hes face doesnt look to good either. :)

do it seems i to one of the 3 major tendants around my shoulder.

the best way to go would be physio , but ima just wait it out , i love a comeback

Hi there,

sorry to took a bit longer.

What you stated it's great recipe to getting injury from squash. As you know it's very intensive and how you deal with it it's great way to catch some shoulders problems. YOU have to warm up properly AND you have warm up ball. When you and ball at start aren't warmed up, you have to hit even more powerful and that's not good.

Even if you play very often and intense...you have to put more attention to rack strings tension. When they are loosen up, contact with ball cause more vibrations which are transferd through rack and your arm to shoulder.

I kindly advice you to put attention to warm up and streching after play.

Stop playing until you solve your current problem. If you can't live witout it, use blue dot -> you'll do even more cardio :D

Warm up before and strech after!

Additional, toolmaking and carrying the tools...get some lift for this "shit". I worked for 4 years in tool and die develoment centre and have some deal with that. Of course, you are not warmed up, pick up 50kg tool and move it around workshop or putting on machine or whatever. Once a while, ok, everyday, leave consequences. I don't doubt it helps you to get some injuries. Think on your health longterm ;)
