That is a big MYTH ! Don't do that, well you can if you want to. However it doesn't have a difference in results than taking 5 grams daily from day one. All you are really doing is wasting more creatine, just go for the 5 grams from the start till end

yeah William is right.  Creatine is already a naturally occuring substance in your body.  They tell you to "load" and "cycle" so you will buy more.  5g to 10g a day is all you need.  It stays in your skeletal muscle until your body needs it tpo replenish energy stores (ATP).

To be honest 10g is too much. You'll end up peeing most of it out, 5g is a good amount esecially if you're just starting.

Seb,

Just for your own additional info, please search the General Forum for a post I wrote called "Creatine - proceed with caution".  I am not a fan of creatine supplementation.  My intent with the post is to provide some info for people to make an informed decision.  Whether you use creatine or not is up to you, I just believe people should know as much as possible about supplements.

I think that creatine is meybe good for preworkout and nothing more,i going to gaing real mass, and creatin is not that,he is just pump in muscle, but with great combination of food's(intake of protein)...and bcaa, meybe he can help.

He si good because u have more energy in training and push your limits when muscle would not, that automatic mean- more effort larger muscle....this is only reason for me to use creatine....

This site is great!! Here can ahieve more experience and datebase of excersize than any other forums....in future i going to be one of most actived members of such a great site...and respect good friend Scott,he is done great job here, thanks for that Scott!! Hth!! :)

John, I read your post on creatine. I have been using it for several months now and have been pleased with it. But...your post has gave me something to consider since I have been battling lateral & medial tendonitis in my elbow. It first started with lateral tendonitis before I ever used creatine but the medial is new. I'm wondering if I should take a break at least from it. Do you think that could benefit me in the recovery? It has effected my strength mostly with pull ups. I switched to only neutral grip pull ups a few weeks ago and that has helped some but tendonits is a real pain. Lol. I want it gone!! :)

Bonnie,

It is definetly something I would do if I was in your situation.  I had the same thing happen to me years back when I used Creatine.  My right elbow tricep tendinitis got worse because I was not only able to do more weight but also I had more endurance so I was doing more sets.  I got off the Creatine for good and did the normal RICE protocol to help the tendon heal.  Unfortunately, connective tissue doesn't have the same blood supply as muscles so they take a long time to heal - especially at our age :-)  Again, there is no doubt Creatine works and it is one of the only supplements that truly does.  I think, though, that for people in our age bracket it is too risky for our joint health to use sparingly if at all.

Yeah I guess if you have an injury but are taking creatine to help with LONGER / HARDER workouts.. you could be doing more damage.  Hope you heal up soon Bonnie!

  • Creatine ethyl ester (CEE)
  • creatine pyruvate
  • creatine taurinate
  • creatine ethyl ester malate
  • creatine ethyl carbonate ester
  • creatine gluconate
  • creatine malate
  • dicreatine malate
  • tricreatine malate
  • creatine citrate
  • tricreatine citrate
  • Kre-Alkalyn
  • creatine phosphate
  • creatine alpha-ketoglutarate
  • creatine-6,8-thioctic Acid-ketoisocaproic Acid Calcium (CREAKIC)
  • creatine pyroglutamate
  • “conjugated creatine” (Con-Cret)
  • magnesium creatine chelate
  • creatine anhydrous
  • dicreatine orotate
  • tricreatine orotate
  • creatine alpha-amino butyrate
  • creatine HMB

Hey

I don't know if this has already been mentioned but I saw an article earlier in the week about muscle building supplements and testicular cancer, basically the article stated that muscle building supplements may well be a cause of testicular cancer with a 65% increase in men who took them with emphasis on creatine and androstenedione. What are people thoughts on this, should I continue using supplements or is better to play it safe?

Thank You

Olly
