Is it worth incorporating into your diet

Hi Everybody,

I have heard from numerous people that incorporating both whey and casein protein into your diet is beneficial when trying to build muscle. After research i understand that casein releases protein into your body slowly and it is therefore recommended that you take it when you are going without protein for a long period of time, typically before bed. Is it a good idea then to start using casein protein in conjunction with whey protein and a healthy diet? Will it help with building muscle? This sounds to me like it may actually be useful when trying to 'cut' or 'shred' however that's just me assuming.

Your spot on! Casein is slow and great for bed time and gives the muscle at night some long term protein to help grow. But in the end just get the protein in and you will grow casein or whey. I use both. whey after work outs and maybe 1 during the day, and casein or milk at night.

@Baggins @Zeke_BE Has given you a good answer! Casein is slow digesting, so yes, good before bed. Whey is more fast acting, good after a workout. You don't NEED both, but you CAN definitely have both.

 

You can actually get some proteins that are a mix of both to save you buying two separate protein powders. Honestly, the difference having one or the other or having both will make to your physique won't be anything drastic.
