I know youre suppose to have some carbs in the morning/pre workout and the majority of your carbs post workout. Is dinner time (7:00 ish) too late for carbs? because lunch is my post workout but for those who workout later in the day dinner would be your post workout. I thoughg carbs later at night weren't good?

Matt,

Carbs later at night are not good when you are an inactive person and your body has no need for additional energy sources. It will just get stored as fat. After you work out, your body is depeleted of glucose stores and needs them replenished. Whether you work out at 9AM or 11PM is irrelevent. What is relevent is you eat your largest amount of carbs post workout regardless of when that time occurs. Many of these misconceptions are for people who are inactive and don't apply to those who exercise - especially weight training :-)

I eat my post workout meal for lunch because I workout in the morning, but would having carbs for dinner be bad? or as a snack around 8 or 9?

There's no shut-off time for eating. Even if you are inactive, eating carbs isn't "bad" or going to turn to fat necessary. It's all within context of the person. Does the person have poor glucose control? Is it within their calorie budget? What type of carbs? But considering that Matt worksout, eating carbs at night is not an issue unless there are some health issues.

Good point as insulin sensitivity and response as well as glucose control come into play. I was just trying to keep it simple :-)

Fruit is perfect as it is carbs and fiber and the fiber is the key to slow absorption and thus no insulin spike which can lead to fat gain.

Nuts are a good choice! Maybe some almonds?

You could even have some eggs, or some milk, or a protein shake.
