Hi guys,

I have a question about performing the Step Up on Bench exercise. When I put my right foot on the bench first, I have no problem performing the exercise. However, when I put my left foot first I can't seem to push through my foot to get myself up. I can eventually, but I use momentum, I feel that I wobble and it all doesn't seem right. Does anyone have any tips how to overcome this and perform the exercise better?

Thank you in advance

Anna

Sounds like your left leg is a little bit weaker than the right.

Try building up the strength with single leg exercises like lunges and single leg leg press. Start with your weaker side first and do the same amount of reps on each side.

Also keep working the step ups since that's also a single leg mvoement.

Thank you, I will definitely try it out. The single leg leg press sounds really good. Never tried the leg press that way, so I'm going to try that out for sure. Thanks again.

That's my boy right there with some awesome advice! Just a weaker leg and by doing the above and even just some time your left leg will catch up. I used to have the same exact issue on step ups, stiff legged deads and single leg squats but it eventually evened out.

I have been training coming up on 6 years and have made some great gainz. I've done a lot of trial and error on myself as well as learned from others and through research online. I've come along way in strength and size since I've started. I will continue to learn and make myself better each day.
