I have the compact model of the Body Solid Functional Trainer. The height on it is not really high enough to do a Lat Pulldown that is primarily pulling down like you usually see. On the Chart that came with it they show a Lat Pulldown where the lifter is sitting a bit back from the rack with their back arched and pulling from there. It is over a 45 degree angle but I am not sure that this I am engaging my lats properly with this one.

In my current workout I do Cable Rows and I'm supposed to follow that with a Lat Pulldown. The 3rd excercise is an attempt at Reverse Flyes that I never feel like I have good form on.

See the first excercise on the third row of the linked Excercise Chart

Is there a better way to do the Lat Pulldowns?

Hey man, I get an error message when I click on your link and nothing shows up? So can't see exactly what you're talking about.. but if the lat pulldown is not high enough for you to do it properly, you have two options...

1) Literally sit on the floor instead of the seat so that you have a great range of motion and it will, technically, make the attachment higher for you to reach.

2) If you can't maximize activation with the lat pulldown, just do pull-ups instead.
