Novice weightlifter.  Trying to get form right.  Please offer feedback/critique.  I am open to any suggestions.  Thank you so much.  Currently doing PPL 12 week transformation (in Week One).

Hey man!!

Overall your form looks really good!!  Few questions though!

1. Are those 45s?  Looks like you have to get super low to grab the barbell.. could be the angle though.

2. Can you try deadlifting barefoot?  The shoes you have on have a high heel and believe it or not can through off your form.  That's why I wear wrestling shoes.  Because they are flat.

3. Can you do another video where you drag the bar up your shins/thighs.  You want to keep the barbell as close to your body as possible to prevent protraction of the shoulders.

Looking really good!!

Thanks so much for responding, Scott.  Those are 25s I think, I don't have very good lower body strength.  I can def try deadlifting barefoot, I saw you mention that in another video.  And I will be mindful of keeping the bar close to my body (dragging up my shins/thighs).  Thanks again for the pointers.  Really enjoying the website and program thus far.  I'm 45 years old, and I appreciate your workouts are designed for most anyone to do. And you seem very genuine and passionate about coaching.  Thanks for what you do.

It's my pleasure!  Also, if those are 45s I would recommend getting some small boxes / plateforms to put the weights on to get the barbell a bit higher.  45s are bigger than 35s so the bar will be about 2 - 3 inches higher on your shins which will make deadlifting a lot easier for you and on your lower back.

Do you have something you can use to raise the barbell up a bit?
