Hello beautiful people !

So I'm a freediver and I want to get to the next level, which means I need to get my body pushed beyong its current limits.

A typical freedive will involve repetitive low intensity movement in a low oxygen and high CO2 environnement (finning or pulling on a rope, down and then up).

Usually, the lactic burn will start to show up at the end of the dive, making the movement slightly more difficult to control and to perform.

Because I don't have a lot of time (actually I don't have any), I would like to use my Full Body Calisthenics training and turning it into a HIIT training where I would perform the exercices on breath-hold with little rest, thus lowering my O2 and boosting my CO2.

This way I would have a routine that would :
- train all my muscles
- act as cardio
- train my muscles resistance and acceptance to low O2, high CO2 and high lactic environnement

I believe if I can do that I would become so much more confortable in my dives, allowing me to relax more and enjoy the dives more and thus allowing me to dive deeper ! :P

I created this topic to document my research and progress on the matters, and also to get myself accountable to Scott, which helps me so much all those years, and to whom I wouldn't suffer to not keep my words.

For those unaware of what freediving is, it's basically diving without the oxygen tank, you just take one big breath and you dive down.

As for the breath-old HIIT training, we already tried that with friends and it's a blast.
You can do it by timing the exercice phase and the rest phase.
For exemple :
20sec of push-up + 10sec of recovery ] x 8
and the same for other exercices ] x 8
etc... ] x 8

Or you can write down a superset of exercices, and try to do it all in the shortest amount of time possible, keeping in mind that you can only do the exercices while holding your breath.

The heart goes crazy, the sweat goes crazy, the nervous system is freaking out, the mind is playing tricks on you to talk you out of this, you become lactic like a mf, and after the scession you are done for the day :) :)

After the scession, it is paramount to stretch and walk and do some easy movement to get the lactic acid out of the muscles... Also getting nice share of protein and water, and plenty of rest.
Otherwise the next day you will be in hell, walking like a grandpa :D :D

@Fabzil Sounds like an interesting training concept man! HIIT taken to the next level indeed!

Just got to be careful I guess so that you don't do any major damage by training with such intensity and without breathing during your periods of work.

I'll check out your other @forum post and give you some ideas for a bit of a routine!
