Spotter arms vs power rack bars

Are spotter arms safe enough?

Hi, I was wondering if spotter arms that sometimes you see on half racks or even on power racks are good enough for bench pressing without a spotter. Are they safe enough? I looked at several gyms around my area and there aren't any that are really lifting focused and have a proper power rack with the safety bars that attach at two ends. I don't actually lift heavy yet, less than 150lb so I'm think I'm OK for now, but I just wanted to see what other people think.

The gym I'm currently going to has these spotter arms: https://i.imgur.com/exFRy7Z.png

Edit: maybe this should have gone into a different sub-forum, I thought it was injury prevention related though. Maybe it belongs in equipment?

Those rogue arms are totally fine. As long as you have them set up at the right height so you can still get full ROM on your bench press, but then you can also get under the bar if you do happen to drop the weight on the arms.

And it's fine having this question in this thread, I mean it's here now so it may as well stay haha. Plus it is about injury prevention! 🏋
