I has watched movie on netflix called "The Day the Earth Stood Still" And movie made in 1951. "Gee" "Whiz" "Sweet" "Wicker" "Sport"

Oh boy... nobody swearing. I give it rate 4 star. I really like that movie. At least I get idea what point of view from 1951 to see sci fi. Military is joking. But at least. They did good job with laser and melt down equipment for 1951. But today people scream F-word, A-word, B-word....

If anyone ask me if I should recommend this movie to watch? I would say yes.

You should watch the Remake of "The Day the Earth stood still" which was much better than 1951 one. Keanu Reeves was impressive in te movie as the alien who saved the earth. It was really amazing.

The Hollywood original classics like this are all good films and definitely worth recommending. Hollywood very rarely makes a better re-make of any of the past classics. The re-make with Keanu Reeves had better special effects but the movie missed the point and the plot of the original - especially during the nuclear war fear so prevelant in the 1950s between the U.S. and the Soviet Union which was the underlying point the movie was trying to highlight.

This is a point missed on by many younger generations who weren't around and/or have no appreciation for the influence of current events on the movie based on when it was made. The 1950s were full of the Korean War and fear of Communism and the Soviet Union and belief there would be WWIII - some people started building bomb shelters in their back yards. This ever present fear impacted the "messages" in many of the Sci-Fi films from the 1950s. The Day The Earth Stood Still played on the fear of the destruction of the world which was the prevailing fear at the time. There is no fear of nuclear anihilation today like there was then so the re-make misses the mark and point of the original.
