Hey Scott, I am now doing Month 2 of the 12 week transformation program and  I found out that there is no straight bar for me to do tricep pushdown in my gym. There are only V-bar and rope. Should I use lat pulldown machine to execute the movement? Or should I just do rugular tricep pushdown with V-bar?

Using a Lat pulldown bar or machine is a good substitute if you don't have a proper straight bar for cable push-downs. You could use a V-bar but that puts more emphasis on the outer head of the tricep. The straight bar pushdown movement is similar to lying nose breakers/French curls and emphasizes the entire tricep muscle when done properly with elbows close to the body. You could also substitute close grip bench if you find using the lat machine/bar unsatisfactory.

Hi John, thank you for your reply and your suggestion. I will try using lat pulldown bar and see how it works. Thank you!

@edcrfv4115sss Well.. the other thing I would say is can't you take the lat pulldown attachment and put it on the cable machine where you would normally do your tricep pushdowns? 😁 How are you finding using the lat pulldown machine? .

It's a little silly of me I didn't know the lat pulldown bar is removable when I posted the question haha. But I tried doing reverse tricep pushdown on the lat pulldown machine and it worked just fine, so I think I will stick to this method.
