Hello everyone!

I feel like the lower part of my abdomen is still "weak" or fatty. Its like it becomes wider as it goes down. What can i do about it? Should i do more cardio or localized exercises? i shall say i never do abdominal exercises.

Im 1,73cm tall, 155Lb (70kg) weight and i dont know my BF% (15-16% maybe?)

Second question is: In order to get bigger, you must eat more (200-300 caloric surplus) am i right?
What if you eat more of carbs, for example, and get more fat instead of muscule? I am afraid of that happening and "Losing" my gains because of it.

I'd say the reason for your current physique is down to a few reasons. One is obviously a bit of excess fat - many people tend to store fat there and it can be the last to go, so losing fat would be one solution.

It's also possible that you have slightly wider hips than others. Not a bad thing, it's just that genetically you may not have a really, really tiny waist like you see on some people. The other thing would be that you might just need to build your upper boy a bit more, to get the shoulders a bit wider, and create more of a V-Taper.

Doing ab work will help bring the abs up a bit, but losing fat is what you will need to get a bit trimmer around the hips/waist. You need to be in a surplus to gain muscle, yes. What are your current macros? You might be able to increase protein and/or fat if your carbs are already relatively high, and that will help you keep the gains lean (as will doing some cardio while bulking).

Hey Scott, thanks for the answer.
My current calorie goal is 2945 for Lean Muscle Gain.

195 grams/day of protein

46 fat

438 carbs.

Is cardio necessary to get trimmer? i stopped doing it when i dropped too much weight IMO (70Kg i felt like i was losing muscle and fat)

OK looking at those.. and given you seem to be having trouble with fat storage around your waist.. I would suggest a bit of carb manipulation. PLus I'd like to see your fats a bit higher too, got to keep them testosterone levels healthy!

Try cutting the carbs back to more like 300-350g on your workout days, and then back to more like 200g on your off days. See if that makes a change. So your macros on workouts could be...

Protein: 200g (800 Calories)

Carbs: 300g (1200 Calories)

Fat: 105g (945 Calories)

Total Calories = 2945

Cardio isn't 100% necessary, mostly it comes down to diet, but I do suggest doing some cardio 2-3 times a week, even when bulking. ALso keep in mind that you are BULKING. When you bulk, you won't be able to lose fat at the same time.. but if you do it right, you can minimize fat gain!

Going to try those macros for a month and see what happens. Thanks for the info, Scott!

Now that you mentioned bulking: is that what i should be doing instead of cutting? Sorry, i'm still new to this world.

Oh.. well.. you asked if you need to be in a surplus to get bigger.. so I thought that meant your aim was bulking? haha. Ultimately it's up to you.. you don't look like you're holding too much excess body fat, so I think bulking is the way to go. Depends on your goals.

You are welcome! Hopefully you see some good results with those macros! Let us know how you go!
