i was wondering if the rackpull sbove the knee plus power shrugs are safe if i have to go through surgery or if i have a bulging disc. should i continue to pursue big traps or is it not worth it? i want to be able to work out for longevity i dont want to risk too much if its going to ruin my back. most physicians and xray specialists dont know what a rack pull above the knee is. they will assume i'm deadlifting. i cant ask a specialist for an exercise thats not popular should i show them what a rackpull above the knee is on my phone when i see them again?

@faijaii Yes I would show them what a rack pull is. But it's possibly not worth it if you already have the bulged disc. A rack pull isn't supposed to be for your lower back at all, and if it's above the knee there should be little to no pressure on your lower back at all, because you're not bending over that much, and you should be pushing through your legs to pull the weight anyway.

But, if you went so heavy that your form started to fail, then it wouldn't be good for your situation. So you might have to stick to things like shrugs, upright rows etc., just to be safe.

But check with your specialist too.
