Looking for a good benchmark workout? This quick tabata style workout is great for gauging your progress. With all the hard work you put in and the goals you are reaching, it is great to see that progress in a benchmark workout. Be sure to perform this workout once a month and track your results. If you see you are not progressing much with a certain exercise, you will know where some of your weaknesses lye and need to be worked on.

Tabata Benchmark

8 rounds per exercises, 20 seconds on 10 seconds off.

Complete one exercise before moving onto the next.

  1. Air Squats ( get that butt down as low as possible with proper form!)
  2. Shin Slaps ( you can check out form on the website here in Scott’s videos)
  3. Barbell Shoulder Press (make sure to bring your head through at the top)
  4. Ring Dips ( if you do not have rings available use a bench or chair)

This is not only going to be a great benchmark workout, it will totally kick your butt! Go hard and keep getting better one rep at a time :)

Thank you! lol I always go into my workouts thinking, "This won't be too bad". Well 17 minutes later I'm on the ground unable to move dripping in sweat. Tabata workouts sure find a way of creeping up on you quick.

Thanks for posting Jennifer

I've been doing bodyweight tabatas twice a week for a few months now and they never fail to make me feel foolish towards the 5-6 round. Nothing really beats the feeling that your arms and legs are made from jelly and losing the ability to walk and talk for a few minutes as I catch my breath!

Cheers

Hey Scott

Looking forward to it. The ability to walk and talk are both overrated, anyway.
